old_vict1The foundation stone of Victoria Hospital, the century old  premier Medical Institutions of India was laid on 22nd June 1897 by her highness Kempananjammani avaru, the then maharani regent of Mysore to commemorate the completion of 60 years of reign of Queen Victoria. The Hospital was then formally inaugurated on 8th December 1900 by Lord Curzon the then Viceroy of India.

It started as a health centre with 140 bed strength which is now the second largest Hospital in India accommodating more than 1000 patients at a time. It is located in the hub of the city and is easily accessible.
This is a teaching hospital and is attached to Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute, which is one of the premier Medical Colleges of India.

The facilities available includes departments of  Medicine, Surgery, Orthopaedics, old_vict2Dermatology, Psychiatry, Radiology and Radiotherapy, physiotherapy, Forensic Medicine super specialities include Plastic Surgery, Surgical and Medical Gastro Enterology, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Cardiology and Urology
The Hospital provides prompt and High quality emergency and elective services in all departments.

The hospitals casualty and emergency services caters to all kinds of emergencies. This department works under the charge of casualty medical officers who along with duty doctors are available round the clock.

The specialist doctors are available during working hours and are on call after duty hours. Attached to this department is a well equipped emergency operation theatre which has state of the art equipment and facilities.  To complement this we have a lab working 24 hours for essential emergency investigations, a radiology department with x-ray, ultrasound and CT scan,MRI, facilities and ECG machines to cater for emergency services with specialist doctors on duty.

There is a licensed blood bank equipped with advanced facilities which works round the clock which also caters to the In Patients of the hospital.
The hospital has a 20 bedded ICU with adequate ventilators, trained medical and paramedical staffs to maintain it. New buildings for Casualty and emergency services, OPD block, and a Super Speciality Block with modern state of the art equipments are shortly going to be inaugurated which will cater to all super specialities.

Though the enormous patient load tends to put tremendous pressure on the already constrained resources, we still provide Quality and prompt services.
